[DIY] Wedding Invitation

Designing invitation is one of the most exciting part of a wedding preparation (at least for me). I'd like to share 3 invitations I made in welcoming my Big Day. Hope it could give you some inspirations!

In addition to the printed invitation, I also created the digital invitation for friends only, so it could be distributed easily through instant messaging. The funny thing was...we had two versions of digital invitations :)) for a silly reason, because I insisted in using the 1st version, but Bagas resisted because he thought the design was too girly (which I admitted :p). But...I was in love too deeply with the flower vectors I found, so then we managed to have 2 versions. His version well of course, more masculine with the blue background.

And.. I also made website invitation for two colleagues, using Wix.com. It was easy and handy!

Tips : Don't overreact with small stuffs several days before your wedding day! They will absolutely come, and we will definitely (should) be relax!! ;)

[DIY] Exhibition Kit

When you get invitation or opportunity to hold an exhibition of your products, what kind of properties will you prepare? Aside from the key stuffs such as Poster, X-Banner, Brochure, and Name Card, there are other (simple) things that you can set up. Here they are.

#1 Mini X-Banner and Sticker
Limited space for your stand? Rather than force the X-Banner to have a diet, you can make use of Mini X-Banner. It's way more cheaper and lighter to carry.

Next one is sticker. It can be good a substitute of brochure, since people tend to stick it on any kind of surface. Make sure you make an eye-catchy one!

Create various types of stickers so that people can choose based on their preference. It adds the sense of belongings for the visitors!

#2 Plastic Armband

Having extra time to prepare? Then try to make the unique one, for example, in term of shape of the 'brochure'. In my participation in Startup Asia Expo, me & NoLimit team crafted a set of plastic arm band - which looked like watches. Mmm not real plastic actually, they were laminated papers :)

Visitors (especially women) will wear it with excitement as they consider it as a part of fashion item (maybe). As they carry it everywhere, people will start to recognise 'the band' and if yours is catchy enough, the 'influenced audience' will find a way to your stand!

#3 The Information Kit - Company Profile and Flyer
If A4 Company Profile book is too big, you may switch to the A5 one.

For the flyer, I was inspired by a flyer format that I found online (I forgot the source). The concept is to guide visitor to learn about our company in a defined storyline (while getting their attention as well). In this case, I wanted them to unfold several parts of the paper to reveal the next information thoroughly. Well, although I can't say that this one is a perfect design, because some people looked confused after grabbing the flyer, but it worked quiet well for younger group of people.

Only 2 folding movements needed to discover all contained information!

Tips : Match your stand's giveaway with the expo's target visitor. Sometimes candies are better than too advanced exhibition kit ;)

[DIY] Graduation's Bouquet

In my country, it is common to give bouquet of flowers as a graduation present. Me and my fellow friend, Copi, came up with idea to hand a bouquet to remember in the college's graduation in 2011. It would be made of.....paper.

We learnt the tutorials from internet, seeking for the easiest one. Not bad, huh? Can you guess what kind of flowers are they? Well, they supposed to be tulips :))

Tips : It would be more efficient if you can estimate amount of papers to buy by looking at the tutorials first.

[DIY] Farewell Gift

Farewell never goes easy. To cheer it up a little bit, here are two ideas of farewell giveaway I can share with you.

#1 If You Leave

Having many working colleagues? If you are in a rush preparing your departure and you have limited budget, then a simple farewell giving may suit you best. Package two pieces of '(not so) premium' chocolates like Ferrero Rocher in a small box, then wrap it with ribbon and a sweet farewell remark.

#2 If You're Being Left

For studying abroad for example, a cheerful yet encouraging poster never goes wrong. This is one example I made one year ago for my super talented designer friend, Fika Julia.

Tips : Don't forget to consider kinds of possible allergics that may occur from your present! :)

[DIY] Bachelorette Party Set

Hi again! Now I'd like to share two sets of bachelorette party's stuff I crafted for two of my best friends, Manda and Mandy.

#1 The Queen of Bride Pageant

I decided to make a crown for Manda's day before the 'Big Day'. She looks good on it, doesn't she? And also a giant necklace as a complementary. All comes from printed materials. Here are the detailed design :

#2 Veil Me In!
The pre-Veil before the real one. This one was a little bit tricky. You have to be precise and patient. I took inspiration from Pinterest, and tried to apply the method with available materials I could got from the well-known Pasar Mayestik in South Jakarta. What you need are : a kind of comb hairpin, 1-2 metres of tulle fabric in your/the bride's favorite color, some laces, beads (can be swarovski-look-alike as well), scissors, needle, and thread.

It took me about 3-4 hours to finish this fancy stuff. And look how she wore that :) :

Tips : Adjust the length of fabric needed with the bride's height. You can try on you first before make a purchase.

[DIY] Anniversary Present

Hi there! Been a long time. So yesterday I sorted all photos I had in my mobile phone - just to make a backup of it - and I found some pictures of my own craft that I'd like to share through my blog. Well, also to ensure that this blog is still alive. Let me start with my ideas of Anniversary Gift for your beloved one!

#1 The Couple Pillow

I made this lovely cushion for my (used-to-be) boyfriend - Bagas - as the 3rd anniversary present. Caricature drawing is not my expertise, so I trusted the work to a friend of mine, Aziz, who was a Visual Communication Design scholar. He was a talented guy, and it made me easy to communicate my design concept. Then I passed the design to an online shop that provides custom made printed pillows - which I found in random - called Haliastore. I remembered that I had very tight schedule before the D-day, so no further search was made for the cushion creator selection. Amazingly, it turned into a high satisfactory after seeing the outcomes. They were well-drawn and the cushions themselves were made from comfy materials. Like it very much!

#2 The 3D Frame

 

The next year, I crafted this 3D Frame. So what's this actually? If you take a closer look, you'll see the inner part of the picture is a lil bit shadowy in certain angles. This is because I 'transformed' the original picture into a framed (almost) 3D picture by printing, cutting, and putting some 'wedges' between two layers of pictures. It took about 2-3 hours to finish the craft and finally placed it into a wooden frame.

Tips : Make sure you have idea about the size of the frame before starting to design the picture. Otherwise, you'll end up with mis-sizing. Every 1 cm counts!
